Did you ever wonder about the origins many present day Christian practices? This Sunday I will begin a three part series on the origin of the present day Christian traditions & practices. I will be looking at how some practices many of us grew up with, compare to 1st Century Christian practices. Over time we have come to think that some of these now mainstream practices have always been the norm in Christianity. I think you’ll be surprised to learn of the origins of many of the rituals and practices that have become mainstream.

This Sunday I will be focusing on The House of Worship. Why do churches look the way that they do? What’s the origin of church buildings? What did the first Christian church look like?

In the weeks to come I will also be exploring the inner construction of the church buildings, Sunday morning costumes, rituals and the communion ritual. Do you know why priests ministers dress in robes? Do you know the origin of why you were told to dress up for church? Why do churches have pews? These questions and more will be answered in the weeks to come. I look forward to sharing this with you.
