This coming Sunday I will be talking about prospering in this economy. How do you define prosperity? How does it feel to be prosperous? Who or what determines if we are indeed prosperous?

I will be taking a look back at the events of 1929 and seeing what lessons we can learn from those times.

This coming Sunday I will be talking about Thanksgiving traditions and history. This talk will provide you with insights to share at your own Thanksgiving celebrations. I believe you will also come away with some deeper lessons that we can take from those early celebrants that we can apply in our lives today. What are you thankful for today? I am thankful for being in community with such great people! I look forward to sharing this talk with you on Sunday.

Heidi Listug and I will be co-leading the service on Sunday. The talk title is 45 Years of Unity In Marin. This will be an opportunity to learn about the history of our Unity Community and the importance of holding a vision. We will look at our communities experience with holding a vision and with how they applied Truth principles. We will also explore what we as individuals can learn from this collective community experience to assist us in helping us make our own dreams come true.

This Sunday’s service is one that I have been thinking about for the last couple of years. When I have led the new members classes, one of the first things I do is ask people what their religion of origin was. I then list the responses on a flip chart. It’s always eye opening to see what diverse and rich theological backgrounds we all come from. On Sunday you will get some further insight in our community by actually seeing the many paths that have led us here. You will also get to hear from some of the ministry leaders in our community to get an understanding of their diverse theological backgrounds.

We have all heard about how different religions are pitted against each other for political purposes. We know that over the centuries wars have been and presently are being fought over intolerance of other religious and spiritual practices. When I think of these things I am proud to be a member of the Unity CommUnity. We are a place where diversity is praised and peace and harmony are the rewards. We are all spiritual seekers discovering divinity within. In Unity we focus on the spiritual Truths. We see them repeated in many spiritual practices and we applaud this. I am so pleased that as adults we’re sharing these principles and also that our children are learning these valuable lessons. My prayer is that one day all religions and spiritual practices will focus on what they have in common.

Well it’s been quite a ride! This Sunday we complete our 7-week book study on the book “Even Mystics Have Bills to Pay.” We have talked about many big ideas during these last weeks. I gave away $50 at each service one Sunday. We faced our fears with a visit from a Mountain Lion. We had the author out here to give a workshop. This Sunday, I will be reviewing some of the big concepts.

Blessings, Rev. Bill
